hemp top

The fabric and the garments are produced by a single supplier which is focused on producing planet-friendly clothing using hemp.

We garment-dye the styles to give them a laundered, casual appearance. For this mid-weight we use pigment dye which gives a naturally marled colour.

The cotton used in this fabric is certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), the leading standard for organic fibres, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent third-party certification of the entire textile supply chain.

The hemp gives the jersey a lovely drape, whilst the cotton adds weight and stability. The fabric is not sheer, even in pale colours, and will soften and improve as you wash and wear it.

Our mid-weight hemp and organic cotton jersey, ideal for creating softly textured tops, tunics and trousers.

The hemp fibre is very strong and softens through washing. It is natural, breathable, absorbs moisture and dye easily, has anti-bacterial properties, is an effective insulator keeping you cool in summer and warm in winter, and is fully biodegradable. In environmental terms, hemp is particularly good as it grows very easily, and is resistant to pests.

Worn with jeans or tailoring this is a fantastically versatile piece. In garment-washed hemp and organic cotton that is cool in the summer but warm enough to wear in the colder months. Generously styled with a relaxed boxy fit, three-quarter length dolman sleeves with a fixed turned-back cuff, and a curved hemline that is longer at the back.
