Functions of CB1 and CB2 endocannabinoid receptors

CB1 receptors are found primarily in the brain, more specifically in the basal ganglia and in the limbic system, including the hippo campus. Some of the CB1 internal cannabinoid receptor’s functions are: lowers anxiety and stress; alleviates post traumatic stress disorder; ameliorates depression; helps induce sleep; lowers intestinal inflammation; lowers blood pressure etc). CB2 receptors are predominantly found in the immune system, with the greatest density in the spleen. CB2 receptors are also found throughout the gut, where they inhibit intestinal inflammatory response. The CB2 receptor is a potential therapy for inflammatory bowel diseases, such as Chron’s disease and ulcerative colitis. The CB2 receptor may also help to improve the quality of life of Alzheimer sufferers.

CBD and prescribed drug interaction

The most important thing to do before taking CBD (or any other herbal product) is research any possible drug interactions and talk with your physician to address any additional questions regarding CBD drug interactions. You and your doctor together will always know best!

Where Can I Buy CBD Oil In Brighton?

I’m proud to be a Brightonian (not sure if that’s a word, but I’m sticking with it), while one thing that brings me great pride is the growing CBD community in Brighton and Hove. Whether it’s a tea, an oil or even CBD skincare, all are available in grand supply here. Read on for my guide on how to find CBD in Brighton and where I recommend purchasing from.

The Canna Kitchen was the UK’s first ever cannabit infused restaurant, located in the Lanes opposite Nando’s. You can read my Canna Kitchen review of this brilliant restaurant from the opening night to get an idea of what to expect.

The base floor has a bar at the front where they serve a relaxing tea which will put you in a state of zen, with plenty of seating area at the back. Upstairs they have a shop, while at the back they have a smoking area outside so you can get some fresh air.

The most common trip people take is to Holland & Barrett, but I’d strongly recommend against this. The product they use is low quality and is cheaper for a reason, while their staff lack the experience and knowledge to offer genuine advice. At the same time, there are a number of shops setup purely around this subject, which have staff who live and breath it (no pun intended).

Below are a number of stores you can visit:

  • Red Eye – 8 Gardner Street, BN1 1UP
  • CBD Ethics – 2 George Street, BN2 1RH
  • CBD Queen – 5 Queens Road, BN1 3WA
  • Guarana Co Ltd – 36 Sydney Street, BN1 4EP
  • Hem Earth Dispensary – 14 Duke Street, BN1 1AH
  • Brighton Botanicals – 114 Church Street, BN1 1UD
  • CannaWell (Marina) – 36 Victory Mews, BN2 5XA

How To Decide

Don’t simply base your purchasing decision on location, it is worth popping into a few and getting to know the staff, many are incredibly friendly and can offer advice. Some even have some great baked goodies, which I wasn’t expecting.

Also, when you go to pick the right cbd for you, don’t just pick the cheapest, while don’t think consuming a bigger quantity of a lower percentage will mean you’ve increased the quantity of CBD you’re actually consuming. In general, you should try to go for a more premium one. I’ll write up a guide in the next few weeks detailing how to pick the right one for you.

You should also consider the THC levels. Many people are drug tested for their work, such as teachers and people in the police force, therefore be careful not to put yourself in a difficult situation. Many will offer THC free products which won’t show up on drug tests, but you need to check the packaging and ensure quality standards by researching the brand online.

There are a number of websites which you can try, such as Nature’s Health Box and CBD Express. Also, all the locations listed above have a website, with online purchasing, therefore if you don’t fancy heading to town you can put in an order online.

Higher THC

Unfortunately, in the mean time, you can’t purchase high THC based products, as they can only be prescribed by a doctor, at which point you would have to have a severe case of a related disease, such as epilepsy. Even then, many doctors still aren’t trained on the subject and aren’t actually qualified to prescribe these to you, so you may have to research the doctors to visit beforehand.

CBD Brighton Blogger

I’m a Brighton based CBD blogger, therefore I’m always up for meeting and talking about the subject. If you want to attend a related event, don’t hold back to ask any questions you may have as I can share details of product launches, local events and meetups which might be of interest. The great thing about the industry is the community is very strong and supportive, while it is only growing with time.
