Understanding the differences between cannabis, hemp, and marijuana can be confusing because marijuana and hemp come from the same plant, Cannabis Sativa. The distinction is the variety of the plant. How does it work?

In addition to THC, CBD—or Cannabidiol—is a non-psychoactive compound found in Cannabis sativa. While CBD generally has low levels of THC, they are higher than the amount found in Hemp.

THC, or Tetrahydrocannabinol, is a cannabinoid and the primary psychoactive component found in Marijuana. Marijuana typically averages 10% THC—well above the amount found in Hemp.
